Frames & Lenses

Yes! When you order a Z87 safety frame with prescription lenses, we automatically manufacture the prescription lenses to safety-rated ANSI specifications. Your prescription lenses will also be etched “SP+” in the corner of the lens to designate the safety rating as required by ANSI.

"Asian Fit" (sometimes called "Global" or "Universal" fit) is largely only a difference in the way a frame or goggle fits on the nose. It is designed to better accommodate flatter nose bridges, higher cheek bones, or a combination of the two. In glasses, it’s often a thicker or more prominent nose pad. In some cases, the whole frame is redesigned, including a larger overall frame width. In goggles, this often means more substantial foam around the nose to prevent gaps between the goggle and the face. Check out our blog on Asian Fit Sunglasses or Asian Fit Goggles for more info!

ANSI-certified glasses are safety glasses that are approved under ANSI (American National Standards Institute) regulations. ANSI eyewear is classified and noted by the Z87 marking on the inside of the frame.

Prescription

Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the centers of each eye. Your pupillary distance is an important piece of information when buying prescription glasses. If this measurement is not on current your prescription, just call the last place that performed your eye exam or let us measure it for you!

When you order your frames, we'll contact you with simple instructions so we can measure your PD without you having to come into the store. It'll be that easy.

Prescriptions are specific to glasses or contact lenses, so we won’t be able to use your contact lens prescription to make glasses.

We can certainly try! Due to rigid HIPAA regulations protecting your medical privacy rights, it is much faster for you to request the prescription from your doctor, then forward the information to us.
